Wolverhampton Wiki
The Wolverhampton Wanderers, often referred to as "The Wolves", was created in 1877 by pupils of St. Luke's school after they received a football. Later, the club was founder members of the Football League and helped to establish the European Cup. Their motto is "Our of Darkness Cometh Light" and their colors of black and gold are meant to reflect that sentiment.
The Wolves' home ground is at Molineux, Whitemore Reans, where they have played since 1889. It was the first stadium that installed floodlights and the first to play a game using those lights which they won 3-1. It is undergoing renovations to the tune of £16 million to rebuild the Stan Cullis, Billy Wright and Jack Harris stands and raise the seating capacity to 50,000. The work should be done by 2016.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers are managed by Mick McCarthy, a former Irish footballer who also successfully managed Millwall, Republic of Ireland and Sunderland. They have been First Division champions 3 times, Second Division champions twice and have won the FA Cup 4 times. They have 2 Football League Cups, 4 FA Charity Shields and a Football League Trophy. Wolves Aid, their charity, focuses on the disabled and disadvantaged locally and abroad.
