Arsenal FC Wiki

Arsenal was formed in 1886 when several workers from the Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory formed a team called Dial Square, after the sundial at the entrance to the factory. After winning their first game they renamed themselves the Royal Arsenal. Arsenal is one of the most successful clubs in England and is still based in North London. The current manager, Arsene Wenger, was appointed in 1996 and is the only manager chosen from outside the United Kingdom.

The Arsenal uniforms consist of red shirts with white sleeves and white shorts. The crest on the shirt depicts a cannon to honor the team's origin, surrounded by oak and laurel leaves. For the 2011-2012 season the crest will be white to honor the club's 125th anniversary.

The team has won the FA Cup 10 times, the League Cup twice, and has had 13 First Division wins. They were runners up to the UEFA Champions League, won the European Cup Winners' Cup once in 1994 and were runners up in 1994 to the UEFA Super Cup. They've earned 13 First Division and Premier League titles and 10 FA Cups. Arsenal holds the record for the longest consecutive time in English top flight and the only team to complete a Premier League season with no defeats.
