Stoke City Wiki

Stoke City is a Premier League football club based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. It is the oldest club in the Premier League, founded in 1863, and the second oldest pro football club in the world. They were originally named the Stoke Ramblers by the Charterhouse School students that formed the club while they were apprenticing at the North Staffordshire Railway works. When they won promotion to the Premier League in 2008 they hadn't been in top flight football for 23 years. Their only major trophy was in 1972, the Football League Cup Final where they beat Chelsea 201.

Stoke City plays at Britannia Stadium, which seats 27,598. In their first season they struggled to adapt to the new field and fell to third tier. They had previously played at Victoria Ground since 1878. They are nicknamed The Potters because Stoke-on-Trent had a significant pottery industry.

Home colors are red and white shirt with vertical stripes and white shorts with white socks. Away colors are black shirt with blue vertical stripes, black shorts and black socks. The team is managed by Tony Pulis, who was their first manager to go with them to the FA Cup Final. They were FA Cup runners-up in 2010-2011, won the League Cup in 1971-1972, and won the Football League Trophy twice.
