Bolton Wanderers Wiki
Based in the Lostock area in the borough of Bolton in Greater Manchester, the Bolton Wanderers were founded by Reverend Thomas Ogden in 1874. Since he was the schoolmaster at Christ Church the teams first name was Christ Church FC. After a falling out with the church in 1877 the team changed their name to the Bolton Wanderers. They are also among the founding members of the Football League.
The team moved around from field to field in their early days, most often playing at Pike's Lane. Around 1900 they moved to Burnden Park but in 1992 it was decided that rather than convert the park into a stadium, they would build their own in Horwich. This modern stadium opened in 1997 with a seating capacity of 28,723 and four stands. It's named Reebok after the team's long time sponsor; fans did not like it at first because of its lack of personality but they've come to accept it enthusiastically.
The Bolton Wanderers have won the FA Cup 4 times, were Football League Trophy champions in 1989, Second Division/First Division champions 3 times and Third Division/Second Division champions once. Their current manager is Owen Coyle.
The Wanderers uniforms consist of white shirts with navy and red trim, navy shorts and white socks. Their badge has the club’s initials in the shape of a ball with blue and red ribbons underneath it.The original badge was the crest of the town of Bolton.
