Swansea City Wiki
Swansea City is a Welsh team founded in a rugby union area in 1912. They won the Welsh Cup in their first season. The team as had many ups and downs during their history and in 1985 was nearly disbanded due to creditors' demands that the club liquidate. Saved by local businessman Doug Sharpe, they were relegated to the Fourth Division in 1986 and gradually improved their professional and financial status.
The team plays at Liberty Stadium, a venue that seats 20,532. Their highest attendance was 19,309 during a league game against Leeds United in February of 2011. Swansea City's main rivals are Cardiff City and their matches are known as the South Wales derbies which are popular with supporters. It is a hostile relationship marred by hooliganism and their matches have frequently resulted in violence between their fans. Other rivals are Bristol City, Bristol Rovers and Newport County. Their home colors are white, away colors are black. The team is currently managed by Brendan Rodgers.
Swansea City achieved third place in the 2nd tier Championship in 2010-11, they were Champions in League One 3rd tier in 2007-08 and won third place in the Third Division twice. They've won the Welsh Cup ten times and the FAW Premier Cup twice. Their highest final position was 6th in Division One and their lowest was 22nd in Division Four.
