A.S. Roma (Associazione Sportiva Roma) is a professional Italian football club based in Rome. Formed by a merger in 1927, this club has always enjoyed the position in the top ranks of Italian football. They have won Serie A three times, and have acquired nine Coppa Italia titles and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. Apart from that, they came close to winning the European Cup in 1983-84, which they lost to Liverpool.
The home colours for Roma are maroon red with a yellow trim, representing the colours of the Eternal City of Rome. These are the colours of the official seal of the city as well. The gold symbolizes god while the maroon depicts regal dignity. White or black is usually worn in combination with these colours. The home games of Roma are played in Stadio Olimpico, a stadium they share with their rivals Lazio.
Currently managed by Luis Enrique, Roma is the fifth most supported club in Italy. They are often referred to as I lupi, meaning �wolves�, which is the animal shown on their badge. They are also called La Magicca, which means �the magic ones�. Such were the chants as they competed in the Serie A in 2010-11 for the 59th season in a row, but evaded victory.
