Internazionale's full name is Football Club Internazionale Milano but is often referred to simply as Inter. They have played in Serie A since their founding in 1908, winning 30 domestic trophies. The club was formed because members of Milan Cricket were dissatisfied with the mostly Italian makeup of the team. Internazionale has been open to all players, both foreign and Italian, since its inception. One of its founders, painter Fiorgio Muggiani, designed their logo which has remained largely unchanged through the years.

Internazionale is no stranger to controversy, In 1928 its name and open playing policy so disturbed the Fascist Party that it merged with Unione Sportiva Milanese, adopting its colors and assuming the name Ambrosiana SS Milano. When the Fascists fell from power the club took back their name as well as their black and blue colors.

Inter has won Serie A 18 times, the Coppa Italia 7 times and the Supercopa Italiana 5 times. They are two time winners of the Intercontinental Bup, have 1 FIFA Club World Cup, won the UEFA Cup 3 times and the European Cup/ Champions League 3 times. They are managed by Gian Piero Gasperini, a former midfielder with a successful career before he retired at age 35.
