Real Betis Balompie S.A.D., or Betis, is a Seville-based Spanish football club that was founded in 1907. It attracted wide spread support and even King Alfonso XIII was a fan, prompting the club to add "real" to its name to commemorate the royal patronage.

Pepe Mel, a retired footballer who played as a striker, manages the team. A former Real Betis himself, he won the Pichichi Trophy with 22 goals.

The team plays at Estadio Benito Villamarin, a 56,500 seat stadium. Their shirts are green and white, with 13 vertical stripes, their shorts are white and the green socks have a white stripe at the top.

The team won La Liga in 1934-35, took the Copa del Rey twice, the Segunda Division 6 times and the Tercera Division once. Betis has had some lean years, both financially and professionally, and even a scandal involving shares and sales. However, even in its darkest days when it was relegated to the Tercera Division in the 1940s, the team could fill stadiums to capacity with its fans. In fact, in 1954, it became the only Spanish club to have won all three major division titles.
