Malaga Wiki

Malaga, a Spanish football club based in Andalusia, plays in Spain's La Liga. They are considered the successor to CD Malaga, a historical Andalusion FC that shares their fan base and most of their traditions. They were founded in 1948 as Club Atletico Malagueno, taking over the junior club, CD Santo Tomas.

Malaga has won one UEFA Intertoto Cup, the Segunda Division once and Trofeo Costa del Sol 3 times. Manuel Pellegrini, a former center back for Chile with a civil engineering degree, manages the team. Pellegrini was brought in after the team was purchased by Sheikh Al Thani in June of 2010. The Sheikh made many changes that saw Malaga's revival and 5 consecutive wins, a new record for the club. Malaga returned to the top flight that season as runners-up.

Malaga plays at Estadio La Rosaleda (The Rose Garden), which holds 28,963 spectators. Their home colors are white shirts with vertical blue stripes, white shorts and white socks. Away colors are rose colored shirts with black and rose sleeves, black shorts and black socks.

The club has a large British fan base due to the number of British expats that live on the Costa del Sol.
