Osasuna Wiki

Osasuna (Club Atletico Osasuna) is based in the capitol of Navarre, Irunea-Pamplona. This Spanish first division club, founded in 1920, plays at Estadio Reyno de Navarra, a stadium that seats 19,553 people. They reached Segunda Division twelve years after their founding and made it to La Liga three years later. Their name means "health" in the Basque language, as in vigor or strength. They ranked 9th in La Liga in the 2010-11 season.

Osasuna's 2005-06 season was historic; they finished in fourth place, qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. It was a dramatic achievement marked by suspense that built until the last day of the championship when they tied with Sevilla FC but got through thanks to their head-to-head record. They were eliminated by Hamburger SV in the third round, however, so they did not make it to the Champions League group.

Osasuna's home colors are a red shirt, dark blue shorts and black socks with red backs. Their away kit is navy blue shirts and socks with orange shorts that make them quite visible on the field. The team were runners-up to the Spanish Cup in 2004-05 and have participated in the UEFA Cup four times.

Manager Jose Luis Mendilibar, appointed for the 2011-12 season, was a former midfielder for 8 years with Sestao, a Basque club in the Second Division.
