Levante Wiki
Levante is a football club named for Levante Beach in La Malvarrosa and based in Valencia, Spain. It was founded in 1909, abandoned in 1915 but re-established in 1917. It merged with Gimnastico FC in 1939, forming Levante UD after their grounds were destroyed in the civil war. Gimnastico had grounds but no players so the merger was advantageous to both clubs.
Levante UD has had 7 seasons in La Liga, 35 seasons in Segunda Division and 12 seasons in Segunda Division B. They play in the Estadio Ciutat de Valencia stadium which opened its doors in September of 1969 with room for 25,354 spectators. Their home colors are blue shirts with a vertical red stripe, blue shorts and blue socks. Away colors are black with a white stripe while third colors are a blue shirt and black shorts and socks.
Levante UD has won Segunda Division once and Segunda Division B 3 times. They were runners-up in Segunda Division Group 2 once and won Tercera Division twice. They won Copa de Ray in 1937.
Levante is coached by Juan Ignacio Martinez, replacing Luis Garcia who left to coach Getafe.
