Hamburger SV (Hamburger Sport-Verein) is a sports club based in Hamburger, which is most known for its football division. This football team is they Germany's oldest and most popular teams. It is also considered one of the most successful clubs, if not the most, for its distinctive achievement of performing in the top of the German football leagues since the end of World War I. It has never been relegated to a lower level, and has playing in the 1.Bundesliga since it was formed in 1963. The 1970's can be considered the most successful period in this club's history, having won the DFB-Pokal, Cup Winners' Cup and their first Bundesliga championship in this time. The next few years did not deter their reign, with them winning the European Cup in 1982-83.

The home colours of the team are red, white and black. These are worn when playing games at the stadium Volksparkstadion, also called Imtech Arena. Such is the dedication of this club's fans, and the intensity of the love for the team that a graveyard has been made near the stadium, where Hamburger SV fans can be buried after their demise.
