FSV Mainz 05 (Fu�ball- und Sportverein Mainz 05 e. V.) is a German association football club from Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate. The club was started in 1905, after a failed attempt a couple of years back. The club has taken part in 1. Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga, and have been yo-yoing between these leagues. In recent years they have been taking part in 1. Bundesliga. In 2010-11, they achieved the 5th position at this league. They have also won the South West Cup on many occasions. Apart from this, they have also received various honours.
The home colours of this team are red and white. Their home games are played at Stadion am Bruchweg. These games turn out to be quite entertaining owing to the origin of the team. Mainz is known for its carnival spirit, which is why every time the team makes a goal the Narrhallamarsch, which is a popular carnival tune, is played.
Currently managed by Christian Heidel, this team has been given the nickname Die Nullf�nfer, meaning �The O-fives�. Thanks to their lively carnival celebrations during the games, they are also called Karnevalsverein, meaning �Carnival club�.
