German Bundesliga League Wiki
German Bundesliga is Germany’s football league, at the top of the country's football league system and its primary football competition. Fifty clubs have competed in Bundesliga since its founding in 1963. It ranks third in Europe and is number one in terms of attendance with an average of 41,802 spectators per game in the 2009-2010 season.
The Bundesliga has two divisions, the First and the Second. The Third league cannot be called Bundesliga because it is run by the DFB, the German Football Association. Each team in the Second League is required to have a license and to get that license they have to be financially stable and meet the standards of conduct of Bundesliga.
Being in the top division means that teams get a bigger share of television broadcast revenues, they are more respected by fans and attendance (and thus, revenue) is higher. This means more lucrative sponsorships and the ability to attract highly skilled players from both domestic and international teams.
The two teams that finish last in the First are relegated to the Second Bundesliga and the top two in the Second are promoted to the First. The third placed team then plays a 2-legged match with the third place team in Second Bundesliga and the winning team takes the final place the following season.
