FC Sochaux-Montbéliard (Football Club Sochaux-Montbéliard) is a French football club based in Montbéliard. The club was founded in 1928 by Jean-Pierre Peugeot, from the iconic French car brand, Peugeot. Though the club was initially created as a leisure activity for the company employees, they soon climbed the ranks and became a prominent name in the field of football. Peugeot was known to always advocate professionalism in the field of football.
Sochaux is one of the founding members of the first division of French football, the Ligue 1. They are one of the few clubs that took part in the inaugural match of the league in 1932-33 and are still competing in the league. They have won this on two occasions. They have also won the Coupe de France twice and the Coupe de la Ligue. They have won the Coupe Gambardella twice.
The colours of the club are black, gold and navy blue. The crest features the lion that represents the brand of Peugeot. The home games of the club are played at the Stade August Bonal, located in Montbéliard. They are currently managed by Mehmed Baždarević.
