Lorient Wiki
FC Lorient (Football Club Lorient-Bretagne Sud) is a French football club from Lorient, Brittany. Founded in 1926, this club currently takes part in the Ligue 1, the top division of French football. Their history is quire uneventful, as it spent a great part of it as an amateur club. They won the Championnat National in 1995. It was only in 1998-99 that the club made its first presence in Ligue 1. Their biggest claim to victory came in 2002 when they won the Coupe de France against Bastia. The game winning goal in this match was played by Jean-Claude Darcheville.
The home colours of the team are orange, black and white. These colours are also seen on the crest. The crest shows a fish, to represent the coastal location of their city of origin.
The home games of the team are played at Stade du Moustoir, located in Lorient. It is currently managed by Christian Gourcuff, a former player of the club. His son Yoann Gourcuff, an international player, also started his career at this club. Lorient has provided a platform for other current international players such as well, such as André-Pierre Gignac, Michaël Ciani and Karim Ziani.
